Our Promise: You Own Your Data
Your home data belongs to you — period. We will never sell, rent, or share your personal information with advertisers or data brokers. HomePacket exists to serve homeowners, not to monetize your data. You can export or delete everything at any time.
HomePacket ("we," "us," "our," or "Company") operates the HomePacket service. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit our website and use our services, including all related features, applications, and services we offer (collectively, the "Service").
Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, please do not use our Service. By accessing and using HomePacket, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by all the provisions of this Privacy Policy.
Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly to us, as well as information collected automatically when you use our Service.
Account Information
When you create a HomePacket account, we collect your name, email address, phone number, and profile avatar. We support account creation through direct email and password authentication as well as Google OAuth sign-in. This information is processed and stored securely through our authentication provider, Supabase Auth.
Home and Property Information
To provide HomePacket services, we collect detailed information about your property, including street address, city, state, zip code, and specific property details such as number of bedrooms, bathrooms, square footage, year built, and historical sale prices. This information helps us organize your home management data and may be used to enhance our service features.
Appliance and Systems Data
You may upload information about your home's appliances and systems, including manufacturer, model number, serial number, purchase date, warranty information, and photos. We also collect details about your HVAC systems, plumbing infrastructure, electrical systems, and other home systems that you choose to document.
Maintenance Records and Documentation
HomePacket allows you to maintain logs of home maintenance and repairs, including dates of service, associated costs, contractor or service provider names and contact information, and descriptions of work performed. You may also upload documents and files related to your home, including PDFs, images, warranties, inspection reports, and other maintenance-related paperwork.
AI Assistant Chat History
When you use HomePacket's AI assistant powered by Claude, we store a record of your conversations. These conversations include the questions you ask, the responses you receive, and any home information you reference during the conversation. This data is stored in our database to provide continuity across sessions and to help you maintain a searchable history of your interactions.
Feedback and Support
When you provide feedback, submit support requests, or report issues, we collect the content of your feedback, including star ratings, category selections, and detailed messages describing your experience or problem.
Usage and Analytics Data
We automatically collect certain information about your interactions with HomePacket through Vercel Analytics, including pages visited, features used, time spent on the Service, browser type, device type, and approximate geographic location. This data is collected in an anonymous and aggregated manner that does not directly identify you.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for various purposes, including to provide, maintain, and improve the HomePacket Service. Specifically, we use your information to create and maintain your account, provide customer support, send administrative communications, generate personalized recommendations through our AI assistant, enhance and optimize the Service based on usage patterns, analyze trends and usage to develop new features, and comply with applicable laws and regulations.
Your personal information is used solely to deliver the core functionality of HomePacket — organizing your home data, providing AI-powered insights, and helping you maintain a complete digital record of your home. We do not sell, rent, license, or trade your personal information to third parties. Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to anyone. Your data is yours.
Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored in Supabase, a secure, open-source backend-as-a-service platform hosted on AWS infrastructure in the us-east-1 region. All data transmitted between your device and our servers is encrypted in transit using industry-standard TLS (Transport Layer Security) protocols.
At rest, sensitive information is encrypted using strong encryption standards. Supabase implements Row Level Security (RLS) policies to ensure that users can only access their own data. Uploaded documents are stored securely and are accessed through signed URLs that expire after a set period, preventing unauthorized access to your files.
While we implement comprehensive security measures, no system is completely impenetrable. We maintain reasonable and appropriate physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect your information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, you acknowledge that no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is entirely secure, and you use HomePacket at your own risk.
Third-Party Services and Data Sharing
HomePacket uses several third-party services to deliver our product. These partners have access only to the data necessary to perform their functions and are bound by contractual obligations to maintain the confidentiality and security of your information.
Supabase
Supabase hosts our database, authentication system, and file storage infrastructure. They receive and store your account information, home data, appliance records, maintenance logs, uploaded documents, and feedback. Data is hosted on AWS in the us-east-1 region. Supabase is compliant with GDPR, SOC 2, and other security standards. You can review their privacy policy at https://supabase.com/privacy.
Anthropic Claude API
When you use the AI assistant feature, your messages and home information are transmitted to Anthropic's servers for processing through the Claude API. Anthropic may use this data according to their API terms of service and privacy policy. Your conversations with Claude are stored in our database but are also processed by Anthropic's infrastructure. For details on how Anthropic handles your data, please review their privacy policy at https://www.anthropic.com/privacy.
RentCast API
We use RentCast to provide property valuation and market data lookups. When you request property information, your address is transmitted to RentCast's service. RentCast does not store personally identifiable information but uses property addresses to return market data. Visit https://www.rentcast.io/privacy for their privacy practices.
Vercel Analytics
We use Vercel Analytics to collect anonymous usage data about how visitors interact with HomePacket. This data includes page views, feature usage, session duration, device type, and browser information. Vercel Analytics does not use cookies to track individual users across the web and collects data in a privacy-preserving manner. Review their privacy policy at https://vercel.com/privacy.
Stripe
In the future, we will process payments through Stripe. When payment functionality becomes available, payment information will be handled directly by Stripe's secure payment processing system. We do not store full credit card details on our servers. Stripe is PCI DSS compliant. See their privacy policy at https://stripe.com/privacy.
AI Features and Claude API Disclosure
HomePacket's AI assistant is powered by Anthropic's Claude API. When you use the AI features, including asking questions about your home, receiving maintenance recommendations, or uploading documents for analysis, your inputs and the relevant context from your home data are sent to Anthropic's servers for processing.
This means that the information you provide to the AI assistant—including details about your home, appliances, maintenance history, and any files you share—is transmitted to and processed by Anthropic. While we encrypt this data in transit and Anthropic has robust security practices, you should be aware that using the AI assistant involves sharing your home information with a third-party service.
We maintain a record of your conversations in HomePacket's database for continuity and history purposes. You can delete individual conversations or request deletion of all chat history from your account settings. For information on how Anthropic processes your data, please consult their privacy policy and API documentation.
Data Retention and Deletion
We retain your personal information only as long as necessary to provide HomePacket services and fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy. Because your data belongs to you, you have the right to request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time through your account settings or by contacting us.
When you request account deletion, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within thirty days, with the following exceptions: we may retain information necessary for legal compliance, fraud prevention, or enforcement of our terms; backups may contain your data for up to ninety days before being purged; and we may retain aggregated, de-identified information that cannot be used to identify you.
You may also selectively delete individual items from your account, such as specific maintenance records, documents, or conversations with the AI assistant. Chat history can be deleted at any time, though we recommend reviewing important information before deletion, as this action cannot be reversed.
Children's Privacy
HomePacket is not intended for children under the age of thirteen. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under thirteen. If we become aware that we have collected information from a child under thirteen, we will promptly delete such information and terminate the child's account. If you believe we have collected information from a child under thirteen, please contact us immediately at deangelis.analytics@gmail.com.
California Privacy Rights (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) provides you with specific rights regarding your personal information. Under CCPA, you have the right to know what personal information is collected about you, the right to request deletion of your personal information, the right to opt-out of the sale of your personal information, and the right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights.
We do not sell your personal information — full stop. We have never sold user data, and we never will. If you wish to exercise any of your CCPA rights, please submit a request to deangelis.analytics@gmail.com. We will verify your identity and respond to your request within forty-five days. You may also authorize an agent to make a request on your behalf by providing written authorization signed by you and verified evidence of the agent's identity.
Your Privacy Rights
Depending on your location, you may have additional privacy rights. If you are located in the European Union, you may have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including the right to access your data, the right to rectification, the right to erasure, the right to restrict processing, the right to data portability, and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at deangelis.analytics@gmail.com. We will respond to all requests in accordance with applicable law. You have the right to withdraw consent for data processing at any time, though this will not affect the legality of processing before withdrawal.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. When we make material changes to how we collect or use your information, we will notify you by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy and, in some cases, by providing additional notice such as a prominent notice on our website or in the Service.
Your continued use of HomePacket following notification of material changes to this Privacy Policy constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed about how we protect your information.
